Abstrakty

Artykuł podzielony jest na dwie części: pierwsza jest poświęcona przedstawieniu czynników kształtujących globalną podaż żywności oraz globalny popyt na żywność, druga dotyczy problemów handlu międzynarodowego wynikających z rozbieżności w regulacjach bezpieczeństwa żywności. W zakończeniu krótko omawiane są główne kierunki rozwoju międzynarodowej współpracy regulacyjnej.

In this article, the author discusses the impact of food safety regulations on the international food trade. He presents various instruments of food safety policies and analyses the tendencies towards the international harmonisation of food safety regulations at both the EU and WTO levels. The author concludes by asking whether the current international food safety regime is capable of striking the optimal balance between legitimate public health concerns and the need to minimise the international trade regime.
