The Stability of Bayesian Estimation for the Multinominal Distribution
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
Multinomial distribution is used as a probabilistic model for a series of independent experiments or observations with s possible results. If s=2 then multinomial distribution comes down to binomial. By applying Bayesian methods for multinomial distribution we usually accept the conjugate prior distribution - the Dirichlet distribution. Since the choice of prior distribution parameters produces considerable difficulties, the author takes into consideration the lack of precision in this choice: parameters are not defined precisely but belong to a certain set in s-dimensional space. The article offers results concerning the range of the value changeability of the vector estimator for parameters of multinomial distribution as well as the construction of stable (robust) estimators. Finally, the author deals with certain practical applications whose essential feature is the question of the stability of Bayesian estimation for multinomial distribution. (original abstract)
