Demographic changes in the Carpathian Euroregion

Abstrakty
W artykule przedstawiono stopień zróżnicowania zjawisk demograficznych w poszczególnych częściach Euregionu. Cechą wspólną dla tego regionu jest malejąca liczba ludności, wynikająca ze zmniejszającej się liczby urodzeń, wzrostu liczby zgonów i ujemnego salda migracji. Obszar ten jest słabo zurbanizowany, a udział ludności miejskiej nie przekracza 50%. Ponad połowa ludności mieszkała w miastach powyżej 50 tys. mieszkańców. Ludność jest stosunkowo młoda, chociaż zauważa się postępujące starzenie się ludności. Pogłębia się ujemny przyrost naturalny oraz wzrasta mobilność ludności (odpływ przewyższa napływ). Najbardziej zaludnione są tereny w części polskiej, najmniej położone w części rumuńskiej.
The Carpathian Euroregion includes in its territorial range the borderland of south--east Poland, east Slovakia west and south-west Ukraine, north-east Hungary and north--east Romania. It is the area with clearly distinguished culture and social specificity formed on the basis of the common historical tradition. In the article, the level of demographical phenomenon 's diversity in separated parts of Euroregion was presented. The common feature of that region is decreasing population resulting from decrease in birth, increase in deaths and negative migration balance. The area is weakly urbanized and the share of urban population does not extend 50%. More than half of population lived in the cities with more than 50 thousand inhabitants. The population is relatively young although progress in its ageing is observed. The negative natural increase is deepening and the population mobility increases (the outflow exceeds the inflow). The most populated areas are in Polish part of the region, the less populated are the Romanian ones. (original abstract)
