"Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie wykładni istoty systemów referencyjnych w ich szczególnym ukierunkowaniu, jakim jest zarządzanie (działalność menedżerska). Punktem wyjścia prezentowanego opracowania jest wymiar semantyczny informacji menedżerskiej, określony przez relacje między znakiem językowym a przedmiotem odniesienia."

The purpose of this article is to review the key characteristics of reference systems in their particular areas of application, i.e., management (managerial activities). The starting point of the article is the semantic dimension of managerial information, defined by the relationships between linguistic signs and the reference object. This relationship is expanded and supplemented with other components: recogniser, recipient (user) requirements, information process, referential meaning of linguistic sign, and message. The author focuses particular attention on the action and result senses of the reference system. The information process presents the action side of the reference system, while the message, as a product of this process, is the result of recognising some fragment of reality. The result sense of the reference system points to the recognition function of message, which is prepared as a conceptual model or an operational depiction of the extra-lingual reality. Reference systems are the basis for designing IT systems, which present computer technology (hardware and software solutions) adapted to the specific character of the reference systems. Thus, these are two design spheres that must be closely inter-connected, albeit having their own separate methodologies. The article covers the following issues:
- managerial information as the subject of management process methodology;
- the management reference system (MRS) concept;
- types and kinds of management reference systems (MRS);
- management information systems (MIS) and reference systems (MRS);
- the organisation of information processes.(original abstract)
