Abstrakty

Omówiono problem bezrobocia, w szczególności bezrobocia długotrwałego w Polsce. Przedstawiono strukturę długotrwale bezrobotnych pod względem wybranych cech za okres od 1993 do 2004 roku. Regionalne zróżnicowanie struktury długotrwale bezrobotnych przebadano za lata 1999-2004 tj. od momentu wprowadzenia nowego podziału administracyjnego Polski.

Unemployment is one of the most significant problems of the labour market. Society tries to prevent its emergence and minimise its extent. It has negative effects on both the economy and society. The phenomenon of long-term unemployment is especially dangerous, the more so since unemployed persons have a decreasing chance of returning to work with the passage of time. In order to take effective measures to counteract the growth and persistence of high numbers of long-term unemployed, the structure of the long-term unemployed is analysed in terms of features whose presence or absence may influence the risk of joining or remaining in this group. In this paper, an analysis of the structure of the long-term unemployed in Poland is carried out on the basis of data from 1993-2004. The structure of the long-term unemployed is defined according to gender and features such as: age, education, job seniority, place of residence (town/country). Regional analysis of the distribution of long-term unemployed is also significant. This helps to determine in which voivodships the problem of unemployment, including long-term unemployment, is greater than in others. Regional differentiation in the structure of the long-term unemployed (total, women, men) is analysed for the years 1999-2004, i.e., from the moment the current administrative division of Poland into 16 voivodships was introduced.
