Omówiono podstawowe pojęcia związane z taksonometrią. Przedstawiono typologię zadań taksonometrycznych. Ukazano wzory zbiorów złożonych jednorodnych i niejednorodnych. Propozycje teoretyczne zilustrowano dwoma empirycznymi przykładami.

The article shows a certain specific type of the so-called complex sets of objects which may be subject to taxonometric analysis (both groupings and orderings). A typical example of such complex sets is the set of territorial units [NUTS] which are hierarchically divided into smaller units belonging to a lower and lower level, e.g. countries - regions - provinces or provinces - districts - communes. The paper introduces the definition of the homogeneity of complex sets by distinguishing the state of simple and full homogeneity or heterogeneity. Theoretical proposals are illustrated by two empirical examples. The first one analyses the homogeneity of European countries for 4 features which describe natural migration of people. The subject of the analysis was 328 territorial units - counterparts of Polish provinces; however, the conclusions from the analysis regarded not provinces but countries which are an agglomeration of component provinces. The other example shows the application of the introduced ideas and methods for evaluating the homogeneity of time series and seeking in them the so-called turning points. Those issues have been illustrated taking as example Polish provinces described by two features — GNP and unemployment rate for the years 1997-2002. (original abstract)
