Autorka przybliża tematykę swojej pracy doktorskiej. Praca ta ma na celu pokazanie wzrastającej roli usług i zmianę ich charakteru oraz scharakteryzowanie nowych trendów w obrocie usługowym. Podejmuje również próbę zastosowania teorii handlu towarami do handlu usługami.

The author has chosen this subject matter due to the fact that the globalization of the service sector is not that well researched as compared to the volume of academic endeavor that has gone into studying trade in commodities. This paper seeks to demonstrate the rising role of services, their changing nature, and show new trends in the service trade. The basic general hypothesis is this: the service sector plays a crucial role in EU economy, and the growing trade capability of services makes them susceptible to globalization - this in turn, is accelerated by the liberalization of the international commodity trade, and the construction of a single service market within the EU. Economical analysis is the fundamental method of processing information employed in this work; the analogy method, source analysis and statistical methods, which serve to compute the dynamics of service trade or its share of GDP have also been used. Legal and statistical documents, international treaties and protocols, as well as reports presented by R&D institutes have been examined for the purposes of this study. (original abstract)
