Abstrakty
W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie studiów europejskich w ujęciu badawczym i dydaktycznym. Przedstawiono badania dotyczące czynnika kulturowego w stosunkach europejskich. Zaprezentowano zagadnienie europejskiej przestrzeni symbolicznej. Opisano również metodologiczne aspekty badań nad kulturą.
European studies belong to the field of research which requires the development of appropriate methodological assumptions, also applicable in the sphere of culture. This paper criticizes the tendency of European studies to, firstly, avoid careful reflection invoking the European idea and research into the general cultural and civilizational conditions. Secondly, avoiding the construction of general theories. What dominates, is a pragmatic approach focused primarily on current issues, and, in particular, on the integration process. The author is of the opinion that it is impossible to grasp the essence of the integration process or define its future direction without considering studies of the cultural factor. Research should go beyond the narrow subject of European integration. It should rather encompass the wide context of current processes taking place in Europe; it should also evoke the development of basic European values. For this purpose, an interdisciplinary method should be used: one that makes use of the findings of fundamental academic disciplines which investigate issues related to the axiological sphere. The author suggests the launching of intensive studies on the cultural factor in regard to Europe, and the working out of appropriate research methodology which would meet theoretical, cognitive and practical demands.(original abstract)
