Abstrakty

Celem pracy jest uzyskanie odpowiedzi na pytanie jakie jest i z czego wynika znaczenie państw AKP dla jednoczącej się Europy i jej bezpieczeństwa, czy istniejąca współzależność obu regionów będzie się pogłębiać i jakie mogą być tego konsekwencje dla interesów Unii. W pracy przedstawiono w sposób kompleksowy i wielopłaszczyznowy politykę UE wobec państw AKP u progu XXI w.

This doctoral thesis centers around EU policy towards the states of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP) - its circumstances, evolution, aims, forms and functioning. It puts forward the contention that the last decade of the 20th century and early 21st century have brought a considerable réévaluation in the relationship between the European Union and ACP states. The work focuses mainly on the 1990s and the early 21st century. To make the argumentation as complete as possible, the work will recount some of the actions undertaken by the EC even earlier, due to their importance for the development and evolution of the EU/ACP relationship. EU policy towards the ACP states encompasses political, economic and socio-cultural aspects. The author of the dissertation has adopted methodological holism, typical of political science. This allows for the use of different analytical methods, namely: observation, comparison, analysis and the criticism of academic literature. Primary-source literature includes official EU documents published mainly in the form of political declarations and statements, joint actions and joint positions. Use was also made of relevant documents issued by international organizations and individual states. (original abstract)
