Abstrakty

Celem autora było zaprezentowanie przebiegu postępu technicznego w wybranych gospodarkach europejskich, mierzonego resztą Solowa. Reszta Solowa odzwierciedla szeroko rozumiany postęp technologiczno-organizacyjny w gospodarce. Autor podzielił temat na cztery części. W pierwszej omówił teoretyczne aspekty reszty Solowa oraz założenia metodologiczne badania. Następnie uzasadnił wybór gospodarek, które poddane zostały badaniu. Zasadniczą częścią była interpretacja wyników badań oraz wnioski i sugestie dotyczące ewentualnych dalszych badań i dyskusji. Autor przyjął okres badawczy za lata 1995-2005.

A presentation of the dynamics of technological progress in the chosen European economies is the main goal of this article. Technological progress is evaluated by Solow residual whilst the time period covers the years between 1995 and 2005. Solow residual refers to all changes in the economy that may include improvements in technology, working conditions, institutions, improvement in organizational structures, etc. This technical change has a serious impact on economic growth in a long-run analysis. Some scientists even claim that technology transfers from countries that are well-developed and innovative to those of relatively low economic development is the main source of technological progress. Empirical estimations concerning Solow residual for the analyzed group of countries were based on the methods presented in the articles of S. Rebelo and R. King (who are the representatives of the Real Business Cycle (RBC)). This paper is divided into four parts. In the first one, the theoretical aspects of Solow residual and other methodological assumptions are clarified. The second one covers the method of selecting the analyzed variables while the next two are the interpretation of results and suggestions for further discussion and research. (original abstract)
