Przedstawiono dostępność komunikacyjną Krakowa oraz określono preferencje odwiedzających go gości w zakresie wykorzystywanego przy dojeździe środka transportu. Pracę oparto na wynikach badań ruchu turystycznego przeprowadzonego w 2005 roku pod nadzorem Małopolskiej Organizacji Turystycznej.

Tourism develops in areas that have certain features which constitute the nucleus of the area's tourist product. In order for a traveller to take advantage of these goods, it is necessary to provide adequate transport access to these areas, i.e., good roads and efficient railway, air and sea transport systems. It is important that tourists are able to reach their destinations using their preferred means of transport and move around those locations. Moreover, adequate transport accessibility is a necessary (although not sufficient) condition for undertaking any investment to create a current and expanded product - a material tourist infrastructure able to meet the welfare needs of tourists at their destination. The purpose of the article is to present the transport accessibility of a Polish city-Krakow - and to examine visitor preferences (the discussion was based on the results of research on tourism traffic carried out in 2005 under the supervision of the Małopolska Tourism Organisation). The most popular means of transport among Polish and foreign tourists were selected. Next, these means of transport were correlated with the demographics of the tourists and their travel and accommodation behaviour while in the city. On this basis, the author identified segments of tourists visiting Kraków. (original abstract)
