Abstrakty

In the paper the dynamics of total and sectoral employment in European Union countries is analyzed through identification of three components: sectoral-mix effect, competitive effect and residual effect using shift-share analysis. The research has been conducted by means of Eurostat data according to industry classification ISIC Rev. 3. It turned out that the largest part of variation in relative employment growth is explained by the competitiveness of economies and only some part is explained by a favorable sectoral structure. The stability of net relative changes in time was also testified. (original abstract)
