Przedstawiono charakterystykę zagadnień związanych z budową i funkcjonowaniem systemu informacyjnego firmy logistycznej. Zwrócono uwagę na podstawowe wymagania stawiane systemom informacyjnym wykorzystywanym przez dostawców usług logistycznych.

The Information system plays a key role in product flows within an enterprise and between co-operating enterprises. This system should reflect the basic needs related to managing Information used to prepare and supervise the aforementioned product flows. The problem takes on special significance when a specialised logistics company becomes involved in relations between cooperating enterprises. As it serves to integrate flows, this firm should above all have at its disposal Information on the demand for products, individual customer preferences, as well as on production potential of individual entities that gradually process materials (or raw materials) into finished products. The service provider should also make the selected scope of Information available to contracting firms, consistent with the declared need. The aim of this article is to describe the main issues related to the construction and functioning of the information systems of a logistics services provider that cooperates with firms participating in the chain of producing and transmitting a product to final customers. The author takes into account the main requirements of information systems used by providers of logistics services. A separate problem, which is not considered in the article, is IT support for such information systems. (original abstract)
