Abstrakty

Ukazano pożytki płynące z właściwego rozumienia statystyki w społeczeństwie. W pierwszej części skoncentrowano się na komunikatach instytucji statystyki publicznej, odnoszących się do takich wielkości jak płace w gospodarce, indeksy cen, inflacja. W dalszej części przedstawiono wyniki sondaży opinii społecznej.

The author makes an attempt to show advantages of proper understanding of statistics within the society. First part of the paper concentrates on reports and announcements of public statistics which relate to some macroeconomic categories such as distribution of wages in the economy, inflation, price indices. It is in the interest of all members of the society to understand statistical quantities properly. Similarly, public opinion pools also require some statistical knowledge to be understood and interpreted properly. In the second part of the paper, it is justified that both politicians and those who conduct surveys of public opinion should feel responsible for good understanding of the survey findings.
