Abstrakty

Podjęto próbę identyfikacji zmian źródeł finansowania konsumpcji w Polsce po 1989 r. Zwrócono uwagę na relacje pomiędzy prywatnymi i publicznymi źródłami finansowania. Przedstawiono dochody bieżące jako główne źródło finansowania konsumpcji prywatnej. Omówiono społeczno-zawodowe zróżnicowanie dochodów ludności oraz rolę kredytów w finansowaniu konsumpcji.

The process of transformation of the Polish economy, which was begun in 1989, has caused significant changes in the model of consumption of Polish society. These changes have not only occurred in the level and structure of consumption, but also in the sources of financing it. A fundamental feature of these changes has been the limiting of public funds for financing consumption, which has clearly decreased the scale of public consumption, forcing it to be replaced by private consumption. In the period of systemic transformation, there was a systematic “privatization” of consumption, expressed in the rapidly growing share of private consumption in global consumption of Polish society. Changes in the level and structure of incomes in Polish society as a result of economic reform have had a significant and direct influence on the level of private consumption. A phenomenon which deserves special attention is the “socialization” of income in the early 1990s, followed by the rapid growth in income due to occupational activity, i.e., hired labour and - above all - the dynamic increase in income due to private entrepreneurship (self-employment). Since the mid-1990s, a major stimulator of consumption has been loans for households. Their role in financing consumption has systematically grown, and at the beginning of this decade the total amount loaned to households exceeded 10% of their income.(original abstract)
