Abstrakty

Scharakteryzowano brazylijski system bankowy i jego sytuację w latach 90-siątych. Omówiono program restrukturyzacji banków prywatnych i państwowych. Przedstawiono programy zachęt do restrukturyzacji i wzmocnienia krajowego systemu finansowego o nazwach PROER (Program of Incentives to the Restructuring and Strenghtenieng of the National Financial System), PROES (Program of Incentives to the Reduction of the State-Level Public Sector in the Bank Activity) oraz PROEF (Program for Strengthening of the Federal Financial Institutions). Wprowadzenie programów przyczyniło się do znacznych zmian w strukturze własnościowej sektora bankowego Brazylii.

The implementation of the Real Plan in July 1994 triggered profound structural changes in the Brazilian financial system. Lowering inflation caused that banks lost the part of their inflationary revenues, which results in deterioration of their financial situation. This article discusses restructuring programme, which were implemented as a response to the deterioration of financial situation of Brazilian banking system. Thanks to it, the country was preserved from conversion the problems of individual banks in the systemic banking crisis. (original abstract)
