Opisano rosnące znaczenie mentoringu w społeczeństwie informacyjnym. Zaprezentowano funkcje mentoringu, efekty jego stosowania oraz znaczenie w procesie indywidualnego uczenia się. Wskazano na znaczenie mentoringu w odnoszeniu sukcesu przez organizację.

The emergence of the information society has brought about many changes in HRM practice. The changing environment and growing competition call for the continuous development of human potential in contemporary organizations. This situation requires techniques of social potential development that better fit the needs of individuals and organizations in a turbulent environment. Many researchers have pointed out the importance of mentoring as a tool for encouraging the professional development of employees. This paper defines the essence of contemporary mentoring, the forms it assumes, and the role it plays in professional development and the career success of employees.(original abstract)
