Flexibility is becoming more important for organizations. In general the term "flexibility" has a positive connotation, however, its the meaning as well as its relation to the functioning of an organization is still ambiguous. Recently organizational flexibility has received much attention from researchers and practitioners. This paper reviews existing literature e.g. approaches and definitions of flexibility. It presents a multidimensional picture of flexibility and it also provides a model of flexibility on the basis of views taken from the system theory of control.(original abstract)
