Abstrakty

Tatry stanową najlepiej wykształcony obszar o rzeźbie wysokogórskiej w całych Karpatach Zachodnich. W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę rzeźby reliktowych wałów lodowo-morenowych. Omówiono również mechanizm formowania bocznych wałów lodowo-morenowych.

A morphological study which included detailed geomorphological mapping, aerial and satellite images analyses and debris fabric studies was conducted on massive debris ridges in the Pysznianska Valley (Siwe Sady), the Western Tatra Mts. Study reveals a connection between the talus geometry and the moraine ridge development, which resembles a situation on active ice-cored moraines in the Swedish Lapland. These forms are frequent in the Alpine areas of continental climate, where glacial cirques were shaped by debris-covered glaciers. Such type of morphological forms have never been discovered in the Tatra Mts. (original abstract)
