Abstrakty

Międzynarodowe przepływy ludności to jedno z najistotniejszych zagadnień globalnych. Wzrost zainteresowania tą problematyką, a tym samym podejmowanie coraz częściej dyskusji na jej temat, to m.in. efekt zwrócenia uwagi na zwiększoną dynamikę międzynarodowych migracji - zjawisko to bowiem, ze względu na rozmiary i siły napędowe, uznaje się za takie, którego powstrzymać nie można. Analizie poddawane są różne aspekty: m.in. determinanty i konsekwencje, kierunki migracji i ich zmiany czy status ekonomiczno-społeczny migrantów; należy tu zwrócić uwagę na fakt, iż dotyczą one zarówno krajów rozwiniętych, jak i rozwijających się. Istotne miejsce zajmuje tu także zagadnienie transferów pieniężnych emigrantów (ang. remittances) do krajów ich pochodzenia. Wskazuje się, iż stały się one jednym z kluczowych determinantów rozwoju ekonomicznego krajów rozwijających się. Ze względu na ich wartość, tendencję rosnącą oraz znaczenie dla krajów otrzymujących transfery pieniężne analizie tych przepływów poświęca się coraz więcej uwagi. (fragment artykułu)

Problems of international migrations belong to global issues. Their determinants and their results concern both developed as well as developing countries. One of the most important areas is a financial aspect. Remittances made by emigrants to countries of origin are considered important. They have become key determinants of an economic development of developing countries. Due to their value, growing tendencies and importance more attention is devoted to the analysis of these transfers. The increase in functions of remittances in the contemporary economy makes us take a closer look at the character of these transfers. They constitute one of the most essential tools for fighting with poverty contributing to development of emerging countries first of all. The importance of remittances should encourage making an appropriate use of these resources for the benefit of the society.(original abstract)
