Abstrakty

Przedstawiono podstawowe definicje pojęcia "szara strefa". Omówiono najważniejsze metody używane do szacowania rozmiarów szarej strefy, obciążenia występujące przy szacowaniu gospodarki nieformalnej charakterystyczne dla krajów transformujących się, a następnie sposoby szacowania tej gospodarki przez urzędy statystyczne.

Shadow economy exists in every country. It can be found in transition economies too. but measuring it can lead to biased results. Most popular methods of measuring unobserved economy and sources of the bias possible in transition countries are discussed briefly. Nevertheless, institutions and individuals try to measure the shadow economy, in transition countries as well. Approaches used by statistical offices (mainly direct methods) and some results obtained by them and incorporated into national accounts are presented. The article also demonstrates examples of estimates derived with indirect methods. (original abstract)
