Abstrakty

W artykule przedstawiono ubezpieczenia oparte na indeksie, jako alternatywny instrument w zarządzaniu ryzykiem w rolnictwie, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do zagrożenia suszą w Polsce. Porównane zostały tradycyjne produkty ubezpieczeniowe i rozwiązania oparte na indeksach. W końcowej części przedstawiono rolę produktów indeksowych w walce z ubóstwem.

The article presents index insurance as an alternative tool in risk management in agriculture, especially in respect of drought in Poland. The main sources as well as the consequences of drawbacks in the development of modern products for managing of natural risks are shown. The main advantages and disadvantages of index products in comparison to classic solutions are presented. Finally the authors focus on the potential role of index products as means of abatement of poverty in rural areas and indicate conditions of their proper functioning. (original abstract)
