Artykuł przedstawia możliwości poznania zmian w postawach i zachowaniach oraz rolę menedżerów we wprowadzaniu zmian usprawniających funkcjonowanie publicznych instytucji kultury. Opinie badanych menedżerów wskazywały na pozytywne nastawienie do przeprowadzania zmian. Respondenci podkreślali rangę przewodzenia, zachowań zorientowanych na aktywność, odwagę i odkrywczość oraz kompetencji zadaniowych i zawodowych. (abstrakt oryginalny)
The paper is an attempt to present changes taking place in attitudes and behaviour of managers of public institutions of culture in relationship with the complexity of environment, as well as identifying their present role in an organization. The level of complication of processes of management and functioning in of the macro and microenvironment of an organization results in continuous growth of requirements and expectations faced by managers. Similar regularities were observed in the researched organizations. In the presented opinions prevailed a beliefthat one should be professional by using professional competences and knowledge, which become a distinguishing feature of managers' leadership. Characteristic feature of behaviour of public institutions of culture managers is initiating and supporting changes. It manifests itself in creating of impulses and co-operating in the course of their preparation and implementation. The managers of the researched institutions of culture notice that there is a need to observe and make diagnosis of changes taking place in the environment, in order to, in later stages, introduce best solutions based on the existing state and its imperfections. The study was based on an analysis of the available subject literature as well as empirical survey conducted during realisation of the first stage of own research on management of institutions of culture (example of public theatres) in years 2005 - 2007.
