Abstrakty

Celem artykułu jest ekonometryczna analiza zależności między poziomem rozwoju regionalnego mierzonego produktem krajowym brutto (PKB) per capita a kapitałem ludzkim, który jest podstawowym elementem w procesie kreowania gospodarki wiedzy. Przedmiotem zainteresowania są regiony Unii Europejskiej szczebla NUTS-2 w latach 2002-2004. (fragment tekstu)

Among many factors related to knowledge-based economy and these influencing economic development of countries and regions the outstanding significance is assigned to social and human capital and the 'hidden' knowledge ingrained in it. The objective of analyzes carried out in the scope of hereby research was to study the relation between the level of regional development (GDP per capita) and human resources in science and technology (HRST) - the sector of economy which facilitates dynamic development of new technologies and stimulates technical advancement. The analysis focused on the European Union regions representing NUTS-2 level in the period of 2002-2004, as well as the groups of regions distinguished with regard to the level of regional development. The research results indicate that the scope of human resources in science and technology are closely related to the level of regional development, however, their influence on the level of regional development turns out different within the regions characterized by different level of GDP per capita.
