The phenomenon of financialization of non-financial corporations has been widely observed in the US economy since the 1980s and since the 1990s in some European economies as well. This is a pattern of accumulation in which profits accrue primaly through financial channels rather than through trade and commodity production. Financial here refers to activities relating to the provision (or transfer) of liquid capital in expectation of future interests, dividends, or capital gains. (fragment of text)

Zjawisko finansyzacji korporacji o charakterze niefinansowym było powszechnie zauważalne w gospodarce USA od lat osiemdziesiątych XX wieku i od lat dziewięćdziesiątych w niektórych gospodarkach europejskich. Jest to wzór gromadzenia środków, w którym zyski otrzymuje się używając raczej środków finansowych niż handlu i produkcji towarów. Przymiotnik ‘finansowy’ odnosi się w niniejszym artykule do działalności związanych z dostarczeniem (albo transferem) kapitału płynnego w oczekiwaniu przyszłych odsetek, dywidend albo zysków kapitałowych.
