Przedstawiono rolę private banking we współczesnej bankowości, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem obecnej sytuacji na rynku usług finansowych w Polsce i Europie oraz możliwych kierunków rozwoju tego segmentu.

Banking for wealthy individual customers is a relatively new service on the market, but dynamically developing and gathering the large group of rich Poles. Despite fast dynamics of development of private banking in Poland, it is still far from European norms. Among other things low access levels to this service constitute a problem, while in European banks a condition is to possess not less than 1 million euro in assets. In Poland it is defined often 10 times lower. Such a situation causes that private banking becomes oriented towards mass private banking which offers its customer services of better quality than those of retail banking, instead of becoming oriented towards exclusive private banking, where all advanced products are applied and a customer is served individually with particular reference to the highest quality of service. Polish banks face a difficult task of building strong and reliable private banking brands and working out a trustworthy image. (original abstract)
