A Multidimensional Evaluation of Social Cohesion in the European Community

This article evaluates one area of cohesion policy with an emphasis on social cohesion in a social area on the national level in EU member countries . Social cohesion addresses problems of a given population’s poverty, which can be related to several areas, including: differences in unemployment rates, inequality of income distribution, education, a high risk of poverty , especially among the unemployed. This article offers a multidimensional evaluation and classification of social cohesion in 27 European Union countries according to hidden dimensions of selected socio-economic indicators for the year 2006.
