Artykuł stanowi próbę usystematyzowania wiedzy na temat kapitału ludzkiego oraz spojrzenia na problem znaczenia ludzkich przymiotów w procesie gospodarowania z punktu widzenia heterodoksyjnej szkoły ekonomii, jaką jest szkoła austriacka. W tym celu autor starał się odpowiedzieć na następujące pytania: Na czym polega proces tworzenia kapitału ludzkiego? W jaki sposób proces tworzenia kapitału ludzkiego jest powiązany z procesem produkcji innych dóbr i usług? W jaki sposób ludzkie przymioty są wykorzystywane na rynku pracy? Czy kapitał ludzki podlega wycenie? (fragment tekstu)

The paper is dedicated to the process of the development and use of human qualities on the labour market. The author attempts to offer an answer to the following questions: what is the essence of creating the human capital? How is the process of creating the human capital related to the production of goods and provision of services? How are human qualities used on the labour market? Is the human capital subject to assessment? Referring to the theories of the Austrian School, the author stresses the fact that it is necessary to include the specific character of human qualities in economic analyses, which implies that such qualities should not be treated as independent means of production but as a factor which may be expressed in terms of quantity. Regarding a unit of non-material personal service as the subject of exchange on the labour market, the author points out that the assessment of this unit of service is subjected to the same rules as the assessment of any other goods. Such an approach does not reduce the human being to the role of the carrier of the qualities which meet market expectations, but it emphasizes people's freedom of choice and their accountability for the consequences. In addition to that, this approach makes it possible to make a clear distinction between the activities which are subordinated to a specific production process and those which are exclusively related to consumption.(original abstract)
