Autor podjął próbę przeanalizowania wpływu na zmiany kursów walutowych zmian stóp procentowych w Polsce, a także w USA i strefie Euro. Materiał odbiega od prowadzonych dyskusji teoretycznych w badanym obszarze. Przedstawia i analizuje zachodzące zależności pomiędzy stopami procentowymi, a kursami walut, zastanawiając się, czy odpowiednio sterując tymi zależnościami nie można było chociażby w niewielkim stopniu wpływać na przebieg kryzysu finansowego, łagodząc jego konsekwencje. All decisions having impact on financial markets are important, however in the period of financial crisis they can make the crisis deeper or help overcome it. State organs play a crucial role in this area. The presented material includes discussion about the impact of decisions made by financial institutions in the course of crisis in the given country. In particular, it analyses the legitimacy of decisions in the context of the market situation as well as tasks to be accomplished by the examined institution. The time perspective allows noticing the behaviours that so far have not been so intensive and as a result usually ignored in the decisions made by the bodies that affect the economy. The problems are discussed in relation to the role of the Monetary Policy Council and decision made by it just before and during the crisis. The article focuses in particular on the decision referring to the level of interest rates in other countries and the impact of these decisions on currency exchange rates. (original abstract)
