Proximity has been very often used as explanatory variable in management research. The author stresses major dependent variables. Next, five proximity dimensions are discussed: geographical, organizational, cognitive, social and institutional. In conclusion the paper underlines that the relationship between proximity and explained variables has been identified as non-linear, while proximity dimensions have impact on each other.
