Systematic and aggressive chase of material goods will destroy the ecosystem, but the chasing of values expressed only in monetary terms, will be catastrophic to both the social and the economic fabric of life. What value would all these goods have if we were alone on this planet? In this paper it is argued that mankind has developed such a lifestyle, as if survival and prosperity have been granted forever. Observed holistically, we face fundamental problems in all the important areas of life. Most of them can endanger the very continuity of our culture and even the existence of mankind. The authors presented them in form of key questions. (original abstract)

Systematyczna i agresywna pogoń za dobrami materialnymi zniszczy ekosystem, ale pogoń za wartościami wyrażonymi tylko w kategoriach pieniężnych będzie katastrofalna zarówno dla społecznej, jak i gospodarczej tkanki życia. Jaką wartość będą mieć wszystkie te dobra gdy będziemy sami na tej planecie? W niniejszym artykule stwierdza się, że ludzkość wypracowała taki styl życia, jakby przetrwanie i dobrobyt zostały przyznane na zawsze. Patrząc w sposób holistyczny widać, że mamy do czynienia z podstawowymi problemami we wszystkich ważnych dziedzinach życia. Większość z nich może zagrozić ciągłości naszej kultury, a nawet istnieniu ludzkości. Autorzy przedstawili je w formie kluczowych pytań. (abstrakt oryginalny)
