This article measures β type of conditional convergence represented by NUTS-2 level regions of EU member countries. It also evaluates diversification in these processes with reference to regions including big cities playing the role of regional development centres, and also compares processes that occur within them as opposed to other regions. The description of convergence processes is based on the Solow model, which implies that an economy approaches a steady state, independent of initial conditions. (fragment of text)
