Abstrakty
The article analyses patterns of natural population replacement, which determine the degree of a population’s demographic development. At various stages of this development mortality plays a leading role by dictating the need for the birth of subsequent generations. The article also addresses the question of whether Ukraine is faced with an urgent need to either curb growing mortality, especially among people of young and mature reproductive age, or to stimulate fertility. This paper presents findings from statistical estimation of the impact of specific factors on Ukraine’s current population reproduction rate and also the results of population replacement modeling.
