Abstrakty

Podstawowym problemem podjętym w artykule jest pytanie o strategie transformacji gospodarczej. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie kryterium podziału strategii transformacji, argumentów, które je wspierały i wyników ich realizacji. Na podstawie wyników gospodarczych analizowanych krajów podjęta zostanie również próba oceny efektywności wybranych strategii transformacji. Analiza oparta została na doświadczeniach wybranych państwa Europy Środkowej: Czechosłowacji (a po jej rozpadzie Czech), Polski i Węgier. Zakres czasowy analizy to lata 1990-1999. (fragment tekstu)

Political changes in Communist countries in the second half of the 1980s led to the possibility of systemic transformations. The objective of the undertaken systemic reforms was to introduce a democratic system and a free market economy. An analysis of the experience of selected Central European countries: Czechoslovakia (after its collapse - the Czech Republic), Poland and Hungary, indicates that the results of the economic transformation were affected by the transformation strategy. Apart from the greatest economic difficulties as compared with the other transformed countries, Poland decided to carry out the most radical reforms. Hungary embarked on gradual changes, while the Czech Republic chose an indirect method. Considering the fact that the Polish transformation programme, the most radical one, was implemented in the most difficult conditions, while its macroeconomic results were the best, it may be concluded that the concept of shock transformation, based on overall and radical changes, turned out to be an effective method for "implementing" systemic and economic changes.(original abstract)
