Abstrakty

W artykule przedstawiono wpływ procesu transformacji gospodarczej i ustrojowej na szeroko pojętą kulturę, której istotną funkcją jest ochrona tradycji. Omówiono stan kultury w okresie transformacji. Rola kultury i poziom świadomości kulturowej spadły, co miało wpływ nie tylko na jednostki, ale również na ogólny obraz transformacji. Przedstawiono także program zmian w dziedzinie kultury opracowany przez profesora Jerzego Hausnera.

The economic and system transformation that occurred in Poland after 1989 did not embrace cultural issues, cultural life or artistic creativity. In free market conditions, culture, fending for itself, succumbed to commercialisation, degradation, and changes that led to a narrowing role for it in Polish society. The level of cultural consciousness fell, which had an adverse influence not only on the individual, but also more generally on changes of the transformation. Neglect of education and the arts has led to the creation of a precipice between cultural life and the narrow thinking of the elite and the cultural level of the overwhelming majority of Polish society. The conflict deepened between the government and artists expecting state support and the guarantee of full creative independence. Professor Jerry Hausner developed a programme of changes to be made to the system in the areas of culture. He anticipates less government involvement in culture, entrusting cultural issues to local governments, non-governmental and arts organisations. His programme was introduced at the Congress of Polish Culture in September of 2009 in Cracow. It was accepted by participants in areas for which it would widen the competencies of local government institutions and non-governmental organisations involved in culture. (original abstract)
