In the process of Poland's accession to the EMU the primary problem faced by the monetary authorities is selection of optimal strategy guiding the exchange rate policy. In the paper we present small structural model of the zloty/euro exchange rate constructed within cointegration framework. Estimation results confirm the presence of the linkages between the PPI-based real exchange rate zloty/euro and the interest rates, on the one hand, and the risk premium, on the other. The latter is assumed to be connected with external trade balance and fiscal position. (original abstract)
