W artykule przedstawiono porównania danych statystycznych o przestępczości między państwami Europy. Autor omawia wybrane opracowania, w których sporządzono analizę porównań przestępczość w państwach. Szczególną uwagę koncentruje na opracowaniu The European Sourcebook of Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics i jego ograniczeniach.

The article presents the possibilities of crime comparison in Europe. The Author discusses selected papers, published in prestigious journals, concerning European countries. Attention is focused on the data sources and information about cross-national crime comparison problems in the analysed articles. A project of The European Sourcebook of Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics, providing information on the collection methodology and preparing statistical data as well as on crime and activities of criminal justice authorities in Europe, is presented too. Also its weaknesses are pointed, i. a. comparison analyses of the crime distribution, level and trends. Spatial range provides comparison between whole countries and taking into consideration chosen crime categories only. The Author presents some improvement proposals of next publication editions.
