Abstrakty

Celem badań było wskazanie podstawowych cech gospodarstw domowych wpływających na sposób zaspokajania potrzeb mieszkaniowych. W pierwszej części artykułu dokonano konceptualizacji problemu oraz poddano krytycznej analizie literaturę przedmiotu. Podsumowano także wyniki zachodnich badań naukowych poświęconych problemom wyboru między posiadaniem mieszkań na własność a najmem. W empirycznej części pracy przeanalizowano dane z badań sondażowych dotyczących m.in. warunków mieszkaniowych gospodarstw domowych w Polsce - Polskie Generalne Sondaże Społeczne. (fragment tekstu)

Meeting one's housing needs is one of the fundamental needs of every human, yet it is the first serious problem of a newly established household. Housing needs can be met in a variety of ways: one can live with one's parents, buy a flat on the primary or secondary market, rent a place on the open market, or use other legal avenues, including social housing and apartments from TBS resources, etc. How one meets his or her housing needs is the result of a conscious choice, or is the effect of the economic and social household situation. The goal of the research is to discuss the basic characteristics of households which have an effect on the way housing needs are met. An overview of the issue and critical analysis of the subject literature are provided in the first section. Research carried out by Western researchers on problems of the choice between owning and renting is also summarised. The empirical part of the paper provides an analysis of data from a Polish General Social Survey (PGSS) opinion poll touching on, among other issues, housing conditions in Polish households.
