Abstrakty

Celem artykułu jest próba dookreślenia tego, co stanowi istotę uczestnictwa w koncepcji Karola Wojtyły, czego staje się ono rezerwuarem w życiu wspólnoty społecznej oraz w jaki sposób wpływa na kształtowanie określonych postaw konkretnego podmiotu. Omówione zostaną również kwestie dotyczące pewnych wypaczeń uczestnictwa (w przyjęciu i podjęciu negatywnych postaw: konformizmu, uniku, indywidualizmu, totalizmu i alienacji). „Zdeformowane" uczestnictwo byłoby czymś na kształt iluzorycznej rozgrywki, w której człowiek staje się albo pasywnym pionkiem lub obojętnym na cele, jaki wspólnota chce osiągnąć, albo też bierze aktywny udział w realizowaniu jedynie partykularnego interesu z pominięciem dobra wspólnego. Wojtyła tego typu zdeformowane zaangażowanie poddaje krytycznej analizie i proponuje własną wizję wspólnoty, opartą na założeniach antropologicznych, w których uczestnictwo odsłoni się jako specyficzna zdolność podmiotu do tworzenia zarówno wspólnoty, ale także i siebie w niej. Thought on the phenomenon of participation, its essence and manifestations arc still essential to understanding its positive value and the key role it plays for particular entities and communities in society. Nonetheless, authentic participation requires a particular engagement of the will, an intellectual understanding of the goal, which is the common good, and creative activity of the members of a community. Participation has, above all, an anthropological sense, as it uncovers human subjectivity and at the same time humans' preparedness to exist with and for others. Participation does not strip the individual of his identity; quite the opposite, it provides the opportunity for a dialogical approach to others and to understand oneself through another. Participation understood in this way faces a number of threats which could in a more or less veiled manner deform it. In the philosophical thought of Karol Wojtyła the attitudes that deteriorate actual participation in the community are elaborated and analysed; conformity, individuality, totalism, avoidance and alienation all pervert the pursuit of the common good. Such attitudes are somewhat antipersonal and therefore non-humanitarian since they necessarily reconstitute an individual and limit his natural tendency to co-exist with and come to know the world along with another individual. They amount to a cramped interior discouraging free movement and the variety of forms it may take. If they are adopted, an individual maims his own freedom and the prospect of developing his humanity with the help of others. (original abstract)
