Celem niniejszego opracowania jest wskazanie kierunków oddziaływania portów lotniczych (zarówno jako obiektów, jak i jako przedsiębiorstw) na obsługiwane przez nie miasta. Próba identyfikacji impulsów generowanych w związku z portami lotniczymi odnosi się zarówno do tych, które funkcjonują w granicach administracyjnych miast, jak i poza nimi. (fragment tekstu)

Airports in Poland constitute an important element of urban or suburban areas. Their impact is not solely limited to a large territory which they occupy, thereby impacting the structure of area use. The functioning of airports also has a social and economic dimension. This aspect of the impact is largely related with their role in shaping the labour market. These facilities constitute a work place on their own and the enterprises cooperating with airports partially owe their necessity of increased employment thanks to their relations with airports. Apart from employment or taxes which constitute significant revenue of administrative units within the range of which airports are operating, catalytic effects are also of major importance. The sole fact of an airport's existence in a given area is considered to be an advantage of such area. This is manifested by the role of airports as factors influencing location of economic activity. The significance of this group of airport infrastructure facilities has been noticed and included in planning documents. (original abstract)
