Having formulated the concept of economic progress, the author discusses the discrepancies present in socialist economy and indicates social progress as a manner of surmounting the contradictions existing between the conditions of production and the productive forces - and between the basis and the superstructure. The influence of economic progress upon the alleviation and elimination of discrepancies in socialist conditions of production and also upon those closely connected with the existence of a form of state property of the means of production was further discussed. These considerations demonstrate finally that economic progress also consists of isurmounting, in concrete conditions, the discrepancies between the central economic disposition and the autonomy of the workes. These discrepancies are especially apparent when incomplette information renders full and adequate planning difficult. (original abstract)
