Autorka omawia w swoim artykule funkcjonowanie w poszczególnych państwach statystyki gospodarczej, podjęła też próbę oceny porównywalności materiałów, których ona dostarcza, w aspekcie definicji i klasyfikacji podstawowych pojęć, a także rodzajów źródeł ich pozyskiwania. W opracowaniu wskazano na różnorodność systemów działąjących w poszczególnych państwach oraz w związku z tym na konieczność wprowadzenia stosownych zmian. (fragment tekstu)

Business statistics of the EU countries require a statistical or administrative business register. Using data from statistical business registers is quicker and cheaper than con-ducting a survey, thus minimising the burden on businesses. Statistical business registers themselves are generally built from a number of different sources. The choice of sources is left to individual countries, under the principle of subsidiarty in the EU, though, again, for the EU countries, the minimum standards set out in the Regulation, concerning comparability, must be complied with. The paper describes factors that are known to impair comparability and presents a general overview of the most commonly used sources in the EU countries in business statistics. (original abstract)
