Przedstawiono koncepcję integracji nordyckiej. Omówiono czynniki hamujące integrację Islandii z UE. Przybliżono stan gospodarki Islandii w I dekadzie XXI wieku.

The article analyses briefly internal and external factors important for Iceland's application for the European Union membership. It focuses on four related issues, important for Icelandic foreign policy: geopolitical position, question of strong sovereignty and EEA membership, fishery and Icelandic economy after the economic crash. The article concludes that strong support for European integration during the economic crisis not necessarily translates into a will of integration in the aftermath of changes in domestic politics, and reformulation of the European policy goals undertaken by major political groupings after 2008 has been only a tactical and seeming move, without longstanding consequences. This indicates that prospective for changes in Icelandic European policy shouldn't be expected in the foreseeable future. (original abstract)
