Abstrakty

Wybory prezydenckie na Ukrainie w lutym 2010 roku wzbudziły wiele dyskusji i polemik na temat ewentualnych kierunków polityki zagranicznej Ukrainy. Zwycięzca, Wiktor Janukowycz, kojarzony z opcją prorosyjską, w 2005 roku musiał ustąpić pola Wiktorowi Juszczence - rywalowi reprezentującemu, jak wówczas mniemano, opcję proeuropejską. Niestety twarda rzeczywistość pokazała, iż wyborcze obietnice Wiktora Juszczenki w znacznej mierze pozostały w sferze teorii. Trudno bowiem uznać minione pięciolecie za konsekwentną realizację strategii zbliżenia z Unią Europejską i Sojuszem Północnoatlantyckim. (fragment tekstu)

The article is mainly focused on the position of Ukraine as the transit country for the Russian natural gas. The major problem is the Ukrainian position and sovereignty, how it could be maintained between Russia and the European Union. The author is convinced that the new president Victor Janukovytsch faces the question of how to combine the Russian political and economic pressure with European investment. This would guarantee the Ukrainian balance of power in its territory which might positively affect its position. (original abstract)
