Abstrakty
An estimate of the degree of association between assets is required in many financial activities. Especially dependencies of extreme events are attracting an increasing attention in modern risk management. After estimation of the tail dependence coefficient we compare and investigate the Neyman-Pearsons' and Kolmogorov-Smirnovs tests for independence. We provide a discussion on how the concept of extreme value dependence can be made into useful portfolio management tools.(original abstract)
