Celem pracy było zbadanie wpływu stężenia początkowego substancji powierzchniowo aktywnej i koncentracji mikroorganizmów w biodegradacji surfaktantów kationowych w wodzie Wisły.

The studies were concerned with the following cationic surfactants: Kamoks R2, R5, R11 (polyoxyethylene alkyl amine oxides, the number of ethylene oxide groups being 2, 5, 11, respectively). The technique applied was the test of the Vistula river water, and the determination of the degree of biodegradation was performed using the surfactant method, the surface tension measured by the Wilhemy plate method. The results obtained when testing the degradation of cationic surfactants in the river water lead to the conclusion that the period of adaptation lengthens accordingly to the decrease in the degradation rate and accordingly to the increase in the substance concentration. The effect of the concentration of microorganisms is analogous but contrary to that of the surfactant concentration. However, it is much less significant, especially in the case of low surfactant concentration.(original abstract)
