Abstrakty

W opublikowanym niedawno artykule prof. Janusz Czapiński (2008) przedstawia tezę, iż dobrobyt materialny na poziomie indywidualnym zależy od kapitału ludzkiego, nie zależy natomiast od kapitału społecznego. W niniejszym tekście przedstawiamy argumenty, które pozwalają podać tę konkluzję w wątpliwość. Rozważania teoretyczne wspieramy wnioskami z analizy empirycznej opartej na danych z Diagnozy Społecznej. (abstrakt oryginalny)

In his recent paper, professor Czapiński analyzes the relationship between social capital and individual well-being in Poland. He concludes that the former has no impact on the latter, which is predominantly driven by human capital. In this paper, we show that this conclusion may not be warranted. Our discussion draws on both theoretical considerations and empirical analysis. (original abstract)
