Abstrakty

Celem artykułu jest weryfikacja i analiza empiryczna współczesnych aliansów technologicznych między firmami. Analiza zostanie przeprowadzona na podstawie danych z bazy CATI-MERIT z Uniwersytetu w Maastricht oraz danych uzyskanych z National Science Board (2006, 2008) i firmy Thomson Financial. Dostępne dane empiryczne zaprezentowane zostaną dla krajów Triady: USA, UE i Japonii, a także dla Polski, w latach 1980-2008. Zagadnienia związane ze strategicznym partnerstwem technologicznym były również konsultowane ze specjalistami z tej dziedziny: prof. Johnen Hagedoornem z Uniwersytetu w Maastricht, prof. Geertem Duystersem z Politechniki w Eindhoven oraz dr. Ard-Pieerem de Manem z Centre for Global Corporate Positioning w Amsterdamie. Aspekt współpracy technologicznej jest szczególnie interesujący, a w dobie globalizacji gospodarki światowej, pogłębionej integracji oraz kształtowania gospodarek opartych na wiedzy nabiera coraz większego znaczenia. The aim of the article is to analyze the role of research and development alliances in reference to technological competitiveness and innovation policy. The author presents empirical data and examples of alliances, from triad countries (US, Japan and EU) in years 1970-2007, as well as alliances with Polish partners in years 1980-2008. The analysis of the number of new created R&D alliances in the period 1980-2008 shows that higher number of technological alliances were undertaken particularly in co-operation between two groups of companies, above all from Europe and USA. The results of analysis show that mutual co-operation between companies is increasing starting from 1970. The most current mode of technological alliances are non-equity alliances, which can reduce risks and costs in comparison to entity co-operation. The intensive co-operation can bring more benefits for involved partners than mutual rivalry. However the co-operation between the two world competitors is very intensive. That's mean that mutual co-operation, even of two competitors, can bring more benefits than their mutual rivalry. About 50% of strategic alliances nowadays are established between main competitors.
