In the article the author estimates the development potential of the communes of South-East Poland. The estimation has been made on the basis of comprehensive indicators calculated with the use of suitable methodology individually for particular territorial units. The author has made use of partial indicators describing conditions and the level of development in the four following sectors: agriculture, industry, tourism and services. The author has also undertaken an estimation of the elements leading in the economic structure of communes. The conducted analysis has allowed for the formulation of many interesting, as it seems, conclusions dealing with the microregional structure of the area under analysis.(original abstract)
