W niniejszym opracowaniu skupiono się na podstawowej zasadzie publicznego kontraktu międzypokoleniowego - zasadzie sprawiedliwości międzypokoleniowej. Jest ona odpowiednikiem rudymentarnych zasad kontraktu prywatnego, którymi są wzajemność (...), uczucie (...) i obowiązek. (fragment tekstu)

One of the most important characteristics of political debates on welfare state restructuring in the last decades is the concept of intergenerational contract. The article of Piotr Szukalski is aimed at defining the concept and its meanings. The contract is limited to "social" part of intergenerational economic relations, i.e. intercohort transfers of resources through the mediums of taxation and social expenditure. Author addresses both macro and micro features of intergenerational contract and welfare and focuses on rudiments of the contract - principals of equity and justice. It is argued that social policy and ideology in particular play a key role in the social construction of the contract and that there are many ways of understanding the concept of intergenerational equity, depending on relative and absolute measures on one hand and concept of generation on the other.
